Cement concrete has practically revolutionized the civil construction sector. Whether it is a small residential building, multistorey building, bridge, dam, highway, rail sleeper, airport, sea port, tunnel - for all these construction work, (cement) concrete is unavoidable. Naturally the question may arise. What is this concrete? 

Concrete is a compound consisting of cement, fine aggregate (sand), coarse aggregate (broken stone) and water.

 Concrete is designated as M15, M20,etc in which M stands for mix and 15,20 denotes the compressive strength in N/sq.mm. The maximum compressive strength is determined in a laboratory by applying compressive load on concrete cubes of 15cmx15cmx15cm. size. The test is conducted after 28 days.

Bhurj Khalifa (Dubai)

This is the tallest building of the world - 828 m height consisting of 163 floors. It took six years to complete this building.(2004-2010).For the construction of this building 330000 cub meter of concrete and 39000 tonnes of steel were used.
