Basics
of Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is the oldest branch of
Engineering. It deals with the construction of buildings, roads, railways, air
ports, sea ports, dams, irrigation canals, hydropower generating stations,
water supply , sanitary engineering works etc. It has different disciplines
like Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction
Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Surveying etc.
The
degree course in Engineering ( B Tech ) is of four years duration with eight
semesters. In the first year, the students are expected to study Basics of
Civil Engineering.
