Save Energy – Save the Planet

 Shut down your computer:
Considerable energy can be saved if the computers are   shut down when not in use.
 Cover the vessels when cooking:
By covering the vessels when cooking, heat will stay inside the vessel, leading to saving of energy.
Use LED lights:
Instead of ordinary bulbs, use LED lights. This will reduce the energy consumption. This will also lead to saving in electricity charges and also saving in purchase of lights as  LED lights last longer. The heat released to the atmosphere will also be reduced.
Plant trees:
Plant more trees in the surroundings depending on the availability of space. A tree is supposed to absorb one ton of carbon di oxide in its lifetime. The shade provided will make the environment cooler and thus reduces the consumption of electricity for the air conditioners up to 15%.
Use clothesline instead of a dryer.
One dryer releases an average of 500 kgs of carbon di oxide into the atmosphere every year. If you use a clothesline for drying, you will be able to reduce considerable amount of carbon di oxide release and also reduce the energy consumption.

Environmental Issues

In the beginning man ate fruits, drank water from natural streams and lived under a tree in the forest. Later he felt the need of a house and constructed; cleared the woods and started agriculture; collected firewood by cutting the trees and cooked his food. Slowly he started inflicting damage to the nature and environment.

Population of the planet increased in course of time, technological advancement took place, and more industries came up. This in turn caused atmospheric pollution and degradation of the environment. Now the pollution has increased in alarming proportion. Unless we take corrective steps, future generation s will be finding it difficult to live in the earth. The natural resources are getting depleted.

Pollution is making undesirable changes in the environment. The green cover is rapidly shrinking on Planet Earth. Humans have to combat many manmade effects that have harmed the Mother Nature in many ways over the years. Climatic changes, deforestation, destruction of habitat and extinction of species, rising pollution levels are some of the current environmental issues we are faced with today. Some of the major environmental issues we need to deal with are:
