It is expected that everybody knows certain first aid practices in attending to common personal problems such as injuries, cuts, breathlessness etc. Similarly sometimes certain emergency repair work will have to be done for a house where we live in. Such a case is a leak in a concrete roof of a building during the rains. It may be difficult to find a suitable mason to repair the leak. So what to do?

Simple; follow these steps.

 Materials required:

Cement

Sand

Water

Any water proofing compound

Trowel

Wire Brush

Measuring Can

Procedure:

-Identify the exact location of leak

-Clean the surface with a wire brush

-Remove the loose materials

-Mix the cement and sand in the proportion of 1:2(one part of cement to two parts of sand)

-Add water just sufficient to have a thick paste.

-Add the water proofing compound

-Mix thoroughly with the trowel

-Sprinkle water and wet the surface

-Spread evenly the cement mortar and press it with the trowel

- Sprinkle water for three days
