Alternate Energy

Conventional and Alternate Energy

Introduction

Our ancestors ate fruits, drank water from streams and led a happy life. Slowly they started cooking food by collecting wood from forests. They walked on foot, used bullock carts, horse driven carts and hand - pulled rickshaws for transport ; used kerosene oil
lanterns for light in the night.

Slowly fossil fuels were identified. Coal, petroleum and natural gas come under the category of fossil fuels. These are formed in the earth’s crust from decayed organic materials. Fossil fuels are deposits of carbon stored under ground or beneath the sea. They are fossilized remains of plants and animas which have decayed millions of years ago. High pressure and heat from the earth’s core caused the decaying matter turn into a spongy-texture substance called peat and then into a hard carbon-rich rock (coal) or liquid (petroleum).
